Real help for CNY Freshmen entering college in August

It has been demonstrated that any church who connects its students to campus ministries before they leave home has nearly eliminated the typical 70% spiritual attrition.  Getting students excited about how they can partner with ministries to reach their fellow freshmen helps them grow in the faith and spark campus renewal.  The first month on campus is a Sweet Spot when non-believers are the most open in their lives, and meeting and greeting is natural.

Recognizing this, a historic unity in CNY among ministries and churches has developed to make greater Syracuse a national leader in transitioning our students to colleges across the nation, and sparking awakenings at OCC, SU, and Lemoyne.   Groups currently dedicated to this are Greater Syracuse Association of Evangelicals (GSAE), Syracuse Area Youth Workers (SAYW), Young Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and all the ministries at SU, OCC, and Lemoyne.

Christian Clubs in High Schools

Christian Clubs in Schools:

Community Goal:  Have a student-led ministry in every public high school, and grow the ones that exist.  There has been tremendous openness this year in seeing Christian clubs becoming established in our high schools.  Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has launched an initiative along with Young Life and Youth Alive, to invite high school students to participate. (FCA welcomes non athletes)   Family action step: Have your student reach out to one or more of the ministries below.  Identify interested teachers, coaches, board members, and parent volunteers.  Learn more and share with others here.    A PDF with further details is below.

Action step:  Send this to parents of all high school students
