The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) invited Believers College Prep (Division of College Assistance Plus)  to partner and assist with the reversal of two major problems in our schools and the churches they serve: (See ACSI Description)  Also see Calvary Chapel at bottom of page.

- 70% of high school grads walk away from the faith in college

- Students are graduating with historic levels of student debt

Reversing the 70% Loss

The good news is that now there is a way to motivate and relationally connect students to campus ministries during their junior college search and senior years.  This way they already know Christian students to team with during the first days of freshmen orientation.  We’ve found that any church or school who makes this connection for 100% of their students, sees the 70% faith drop-out nearly disappear, and students return for Christmas to energize their younger friends with stories of growth and leading others to Christ.  Pastors in several cities are uniting to see 100% or 2016 grads connected.  Schools can lead the way!

Simple steps you can take for:

Students

  1. Send each this student page and ask them to watch all the videos.
  2. Ask all the sophomores, juniors, and seniors to log into LiveAbove.com and reach out to some campus ministries to learn about what they do.
  3. Assure that all juniors incorporate this in their college search, and that all seniors are relationally connected to ministries at their selected college.
  4. Ask them to return for Christmas (while high school is still in session) and share their stories.

Parents

  1. Send each this parent page and ask them to watch all the videos, then have a family discussion.
  2. Ask parents of sophomores, juniors, and seniors to have log into LiveAbove.com and reach out to some campus ministries.
  3. Assure that parents of juniors incorporate this in their college search, and that all seniors are relationally connected to ministries at their selected college.

An efficient way to see how other churches and schools are using this is to set up a 15-30 minute session to view our screen for a walk-through.  You can contact John Decker at  john@BelieversCollegePrep.com or 315-656-7973  SCREEN-SHARE LINK

Your City

“Doubling successful transition from high school, to triple Christian college grads into society”

United movements among churches are beginning in some cities to make sure that all 2016 graduates are connected in advance to campus ministries. These connected incoming freshmen will be fruitful during the first weeks, when non-believers are most open. Read full article below we published with InterVarsity.  Christian schools are well connected and can be a starting point.  We suggest you send www.BelieversCollegePrep.com to all the churches whom your school serves.

Financial Tab on website

  • The resources, videos, and webinars, in this section educates families on how to minimize student debt by looking at college as a major consumer purchase, so they understand more options in their approach to colleges.  This provides helpful perspective and insight into the “business of college” to make families a more informed consumer.  We provide complimentary college strategy sessions to families to give them meaningful actions they can take and to answer their college questions.   Some families who are looking for a personal partner to help them through all aspects of high school, college, grad school, including negotiating lower tuition, may elect to engage CAPlus for services.  These are offered to Christian School families with a “zero-cost guarantee” so that there will never be any net expense to ACSI families.  This provides funding to expand the ministry and national movement to equip this generation for success. The largest part of our funding comes from providing these services in the secular sector through financial advisors, banks, and credit unions.  The videos and webinars in this section will help families gain perspective on the “business of college” and ways to position themselves as a knowledgeable consumer.   Also see these links: A Better Approach to College        CAPlus Services and Prices       A Guidance Counselor’s Perspective     About Us

New York Times article Slice2

ApprovedProvider_2015-College-Counseling-Services

From ACSI Site: College Assistance Plus (CAPlus) offers welcome assistance to the college preparation and transition process. The average college graduate changes majors three or more times and spends 5.5 years in college. Upon graduation, 53 percent of graduates are not working or are in non-degree jobs. The unprecedented debt they carry prevents them from going into ministry or their chosen field and makes it financially difficult for their parents to send younger siblings to Christian schools. Furthermore, 70 percent of students fall away from the faith during college, mostly during the first year. All this has been shown to be preventable with proper preparation and tools. CAPlus provides free training and tools for school counselors and webinars for parents and students to find viable careers, majors, and callings, and learn effective approaches to reduce the cost of college and graduate schools regardless of income. We coach counselors and families how to prepare spiritually for the transition to college and connect with campus ministries in advance. We want to see new college freshmen positively impacted at the most open time of their lives! CAPlus also provides fee-based services for families who wish to have assistance on a continual and comprehensive basis.

Communicating with families.  Here is a PDF that schools are sending out to families to help families, give you feedback and help propel the transition movement in communities.  We can modify this according to your preference. Step 1 of 3

  • Student Educational and Interest Information

  • Resources and Student Stories– Located at the “Other Info” menu item, these sections will have continually growing content. Be sure to read the “5-Minute Apologetics Game Changer” and share with your community. The Student Stories are perfect for adding vision to teens of Christ’s transforming power and love.
  • Adapting to individual schools. Each school has different needs and we partner with the school administration and counseling faculty to adapt to the direction and mission of the school.
