Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Student-led, coach advised, gospel clubs in high schools and colleges for athletes.  Non-athletes are encouraged to attend.

Christian high school students need clubs like FCA, Young Life, and Youth for Christ, in the school to provide fellowship, strength, and a platform to reach out to their classmates.  FCA has been successful at working with all these organizations and often pioneering the way for in-school clubs since FCA “huddles” are student-led, and invite non-athletes to participate as well.

Special Feature on the Woodlawn Film

Woodlawn is the true story of an FCA staffer who spoke to a high school in racially torn 1973 Birmingham Alabama. The ensuing revival changed the culture of the entire school, their rival high school, and the city. Woodlawn & FCA have developed video small-group studies and showings for your youth or college group.   The premise of small group studies for students is “It happened before, you can make it happen again!”.  STREAM OR PURCHASE FROM AMAZON.     RENT FROM REDBOX.     SHOW TO YOUR CHURCH.

The six-part small group study to the right shows what happened in the 1973 Woodlawn High School revival, and helps students to set the stage to have this happen in their school.  The result immersed two high schools in a spiritual awakening, created racial reconciliation, and blessed an entire city.

The free 26-minute Episode 1 is provided to the right, and you can purchase the 6-part series along with workbooks and a video leader’s guide at this link.  Expand to full screen.

The Woodlawn film will be available in DVD on January 19th.  Church and school showing options are available.  Most people say this is the best Christian film they have ever seen…. so get the word out!

FCA PRAYER

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) FCA’s mission is to impact youth through coaches at a high school and college level, by forming student-led groups.   FCA is of particular interest to the college transition mission of Believers College Prep since it is one of the few groups that has both high school and college ministries.  FCA is the largest sports ministry in the world with over 11,000 clubs (huddles).  Billy Graham said that the most influential person in the life of a young person is his or her coach.  FCA groups in high schools especially welcome non-athletes to attend since they are often the only group in the school due to the popularity of sports in our culture.

Parents and Pastors:

FCA huddles are student-led meetings, overseen by a coach or teacher that generally occur on the high school campus before or after school hours.   They are attended by athletes and non-athletes alike.   Student-led groups in high schools are a key part of city awakenings, and FCA can be a good ministry to lead the way based on the popularity of sports.   Churches can use this page to get the word out in the community to find interested students, coaches, and teachers.  Learn next steps at this link or contact us at the numbers below.  Click the below image for a city reaching strategy with youth and college ministries.
